210 Wellington Q and A

What does it cost to move in?

First month's rent plus $2,000 security deposit. Pet deposits are additional.

What makes 210 Wellington unique?

The house has a great plan, lots of storage space, big windows and handsome finishes. It also has high ceilings in the master, lots of (climate-controlled) storage, and was insulated with blown foam rather than fiberglass for lower utility costs.

Does this house have a washer and dryer ?

Yes, and they are included in the rent.

What are you looking for in a renter?

Most of my tenants have three things in common; they have no more than 2 cars, no more than 4 sentient beings under roof and not more than 2 bread winners

No, really, what are you looking for in a renter?

I seek out friendly, financially-stable folk who will care for the home as if it were their own and are prepared to commit to a lease of longer than a year. I do check references and run credit. It prudent to forewarn and explain skeletons which lurk in the closet of one's credit history.

What are you trying to avoid in your renters?

Groups of friends who must all combine their incomes to make the rent, (because they tend to move after only one year). College kids who party a lot, smokers, people with new pets, people with no job (unless you can show considerable financial independence.)

Can I smoke inside ?

Sorry, no, but there is a covered porch in the front.

Why are your houses so expensive?

My houses are only expensive when compared to older, more tired rentals of similar size. Houses like 210 Wellington have a lot of amenities which are not common in Asheville rentals; hickory and travertine floors; quality contemporary lighting, large windows, etc.

What is expected of renters?

Keeping up with the yard work; mowing the grass, pulling weeds, etc.

When will the house be available?

Check out the calendar on the home page to see when the current lease will expire. The tenants have not yet announced their plans to renew or move.

Can I rent-to-own?

None of my houses are currently on the market. But for the right price, any of my houses could be purchased. If you are looking for a house at below market-value, you should look elsewhere.

Does it have a basement?

No, but it does have a dry crawl-space under the floor; external access.

Does it have an attic?

No but there is a lot of storage space in the house and a little more under the house in the crawl space.

Does is have a garage?

No, but it does have parking for two-three cars.

Does it have a gas range?

What makes you a cool landlord?

I have a sense of humor and am reasonable and negotiable.

Is there a fenced-in yard ?

How much are utilities?

This is effected by both your lifestyle AND the weather, but the average is about $60/mo. for electr. depending on how much you use the heat and AC. The house was insulated with Icenye, which is the best available, the house has a 'sealed envelope'. Water, sewer and trash together should be around $30-40 /mo.

Where is the house?

On Wellington, in west Asheveille near the corner of State is not yet in the data bases of the Yahoo or Google maps, but you can find a map here.

Can I have pets?

Possibly. This is considered, on animal-by-animal basis. I do not permit puppies, kittens, un-neutered cats, ferrets, etc. The house has hardwood floors, which could be damaged by untrained/ neglected animals. A refundable and a non refundable pet deposit is required.

Why do you have such a detailed website?

It took a long time to answer these same questions many times per week so I have tried to use this website to make it easier and faster for everyone to get information 24/7.

How do I contact you?

How do I apply, or get a lease?

Click here to fill out a rental application, fill it out and provide me with $30 to run your credit ($45 for two people).

It costs $30 to run your credit ($15 more for each additional bread-winner). If you are offered a lease there is a $75 administrative fee to prep the lease/ keys/ etc. Pet fees vary according to the number of animals, but 1 dog or cat requires a $450 refundable and $125 non-refunbable deposit.
